Wireless Case Study
Situation:
CTI Management Services had been supporting Parkview
Community Hospital; providing consulting services,
PC/Server configuration and maintenance; when they uncovered
a Wireless LAN/Voice need beyond their expertise. We
approached the solution as a "sell through" opportunity; and
CTI maintained account control throughout the project.
Critical Issue:
Provide Wireless LAN/Voice infrastructure that would not
interfere with healthcare equipment throughout the hospital
and campus facilities; and insure that the system would be
compatible for future integration with the existing Nurse
Call application and additional wireless data applications.
Capability Needed:
Wireless LAN solution that would integrate with existing
data infrastructure and Wireless Voice solution that would
integrate with the existing Siemens' PBX and eventually be
compatible with the hospital's existing Nurse Call
Application. The wireless voice solution required
accessibility throughout the main facility and a remote
building across the parking lot.
We Provided:
SCI provided the Wireless Site Survey and engineered the
design for (4) Avaya Cajun P333T's, (61) Avaya AP4's, plus
the Spectralink Net Link solution with (100) i640 IP
handsets. CTI provided the cabling infrastructure and
Project Management and interface with the client.
Spectralink provided the design and certification for the
NetLink solution.
Results:
After Spectralink had certified the system; SCI and CTI
conducted testing throughout the facility and remote
facility and found no area uncovered by the wireless design.
The nurses began utilizing the solution immediately and have
gained valuable "patient-time" since they no longer have to
return to a nurse's station to make or receive a call;
patient care has improved; doctors are easily reached.
